Year 2011

In the year 2011 campaign continued with the intention of "more and better development cooperation".

We had messages to the public audience (as well as to the priority target groups - media, politicians):

  • there is poverty in the world
  • we have a responsibility too

and we called to

  • support the campaign's demands
  • involve some way.

There is plenty of the causes of extreme poverty so it is not possible to cover all at once and in detail. Therefore, the campaign in 2011 focused on specific range of topics:

  • Corporate Responsibility
  • Right to Food
  • Energy for All by 2030

The campaign used continuously all other information tools and promotional materials of the project, also used activities and projects of organizations supporting the campaign with their promotional materials. We believe that hardly any campaign hit and still affects similar number of people: more and more cities, villages, groups or individuals. As the rough analysis showed we can talk about more than 950 towns and villages in Czech Republic.

Days against Poverty

Based on positive experience from previous years activities of Days against Poverty were spread in the period from 5.9 to 17.10, with the ultimate deadline 17.11. – International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. It gave to us possibility of involving a wide range of organizations from the entire country. However, as in previous years, continued some Days events until 3.12. (Global Day of Action for the climate), which was agreed in the framework of our cooperation with the Climate Coalition.

Aims of action days were:

  • raise awareness of the campaign;
  • gain public interest and support in general for MDGs and explain why it is important for Czech Republic to help developing countries even when we faced to the impacts of the financial and economical crisis;
  • attract media attention (to the campaign and its contents);
  • put pressure on politicians.

Days against Poverty took place from 5.9. to 17.10. (or 3.12.) in 29 cities: Aš, Brno, České Budějovice, Děčín, Havířov, Hradec Králové, Cheb, Chrudim, Jihlava, Karlovy Vary, Karviná, Kostelec nad Černými lesy, Litoměřice, Mariánské Lázně, Olomouc, Opava, Orlová, Ostrava, Plzeň, Praha, Prostějov, Slaný, Tanvald, Teplá, Ústí nad Labem, Ústí nad Orlicí, Valašské Meziříčí, Vsetín, Žďár nad Sázavou.

Dozens of events had different forms - information stands, public discussions, concerts, information days in organizations and institutions, street events, happenings, activities for children and their parents, all often combined with information about fair trade, including the offer of fair trade products.

There can be no development, no lasting peace on the planet, if women continue to be relegated to subservient and often dangerous and back-breaking roles in society. Goal 3

Goal 3
Promote gender equality and empower women
